What is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) ?
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a biofuel used to power aircraft that has similar chemical properties to conventional jet fuel. SAF is also called as drop-in fuel since no technological changes are required in an aircraft. SAF can be produced from a variety of feedstocks. These include forestry and agricultural waste and used cooking oil . Depending on the feedstock and technologies used to produce it, SAF can reduce life cycle GHG emissions significantly compared to conventional jet fuel.
