My customer’s cargo arrived in a Battery Electric Vehicle but they didn’t pay for ECO Delivery Inland, can they receive my certificate?

No, to prevent double counting of GHG emissions savings from our electric vehicles powered by renewable electricity, we employ a mass balancing or book & claim process. In essence, the book & claim model permits the monitoring of the amount of electricity used in transportation and reconcile this electricity with another inland move based on verifiable bookkeeping. This method traces energy flow through a detailed chain of custody. It ensures the total renewable electricity used in transportation is matched to ECO Delivery Inland customers, aligning the energy used to power electric vehicles with what's allocated to the customers. Consequently, while the cargo of a non-ECO Delivery Inland customer might be transported in an electric vehicle, they cannot claim its benefits or access data on the GHG emissions reduction, as the allocation of environmental attributes is reserved for ECO Delivery Inland customers.
