B/L clause/ documentation
It is mandatory to update In-transit clause in the cargo description of shipping instructions if the place of delivery and consignee city are not part of the same country
Customs Manifest Amendment Requirements: Accepted
- No any type of amendment is allowed for Non-Negotiable bills
For any amendment after submission of import manifest the below are mandatory:
- Shipper's instructions on his company letter head
- LOI from shipper
- Full set of Bill of Lading to be surrendered in any Maersk Office.
- Applicable charges are amendment fee $70, New Document issuance fee $45 payable at Maersk Tanzania and $10 penalty payable at local customs.
- If Amendment is for description, weight & number of packages then there is an extra verification penalty of $500 payable at local customs Change of shipper details is prohibited after submission of Import manifest at local customs

Freight and IHI should always be PREPAID.
Ensure at booking stage correct consignee information is provided and recorded in GCSS /i.e/ E-mail address, Phone number and physical address. In case of Consignee not responding when approached, booking office need to make sure within 24hrs Shipper is advised and get the consignee to contact Tanzania office through tz.import@maersk.com
Failure in providing correct information or documentation on time, Destination port (Maersk Tanzania) will direct all the related costs (detention, port storage, removal, customs penalties) to the Booking Office, shipper, consignee or their Agent without notice.
TBL (Through Bill of Lading) Transport documents (negotiable & non-negotiables) must be issued at origin We provide 24 hours free period for Offloading/unpacking the truck at client premises at destination for Rwanda, failure of which attract penalties of USD 250 per day
per truck.

Invoicing Restrictions
For Imports into Rwanda, adding charges after the closure of AFR (import) and/or ACR task closure is not acceptable unless payer confirms in writing or approval from tz.import@maerskline.com
