Following the implementation of the new Manifest System in Portugal in the second week of December 2025, the national customs authority has introduced updated procedures for export manifest reconciliation. One of the most impactful changes is the reduction of the reconciliation deadline from 96 hours to 24 hours, counted in calendar days from the exact date and time of the vessel’s departure.
To comply with these new regulatory requirements, we kindly remind all customers that:
- All mandatory export data and documentation must be submitted to the email pt.mrn@maersk.com no later than 48 hours before the vessel’s arrival
- This cut-off is strict and applies regardless of weekends or holidays, as defined by the customs authority.
Important Notice – Implications of Late or Missing Information
Failure to provide the required information within the established 48-hour timeframe may result in serious operational and regulatory consequences, including but not limited to:
- Containers not being loaded onto the intended vessel due to incomplete or unreconciled manifest data.
- Delays or failures in obtaining Exit Certification for export declarations.
- Increased exposure to customs non-compliance, which may lead to administrative penalties, shipment delays, or additional clearance interventions by the authorities.
