Container Re-use Instructions
Requests for container re-use are to be submitted via email to KENCONTAINERE-USE@maersk.com attaching below documents for evaluation and approval
- Fully filled and endorsed Re-use forms
- Copy of delivery order for the import shipment.
- Valid export booking.

Demurrage and Detention is applicable when the customer holds carrier equipment in the terminal (Demurrage) and outside of the port, terminal, or depot (Detention) beyond the free time that is allotted. Calculations are based on calendar days, and the amount is per day, per container from the date of discharge till empty return at the prescribed depot. Storage is billed and payable directly to the port operator.
Non-operating reefers (NORs) are charged as DRY Non-IMO containers.
Shipper’s Own Containers (SOC) are not subject to Demurrage and Detention.

Kindly note that all cargo coming to Uganda will now be cleared under Single Customs Territory (SCT) through Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
For all items, Original documents scanned individually in PDF form, in a size not more that 450kb are now required, online appointment for advised third party agent and nomination of the ICD.
For motor vehicles; additional documents including Motor vehicle export log book + Certificate Of Conformity and vehicle details including: Make, Model, chassis Numbers, Engine Numbers, Year of manufacture, Color, CC, Size of Tires, Fuel Type, Gross weight, Net Weight, seating capacity.
All these details must be input in the URA system.

- Copy of the Original B/L
- Copy of Packing List (per container)
- Copy of Commercial invoice
- Pre-inspection certificate
- FERI CERTIFICATE – for cargo in transit to Democratic Republic of Congo Through Uganda 10 days before vessel arrival
- Certificate of conformity (for beverages only)
- Active Tax Identification Number-TIN (for Uganda shipments only)
- Advise the regime code to be used. (IM4 or WT8)
- Consignee contact details, Customer's preferred bank for payment of taxes, Customer's preferred ICD (Container yard)
- APMT ICD
- MULTPLE ICD
- SPEDAG NAKAWA ICD
- SPEDAG LUZIRA ICD
- Any other relevant certificates if aid/donation/relief cargo involved.
