Maersk Customer Advisory- Nepal Tariff Update Inland Haulage Revision Due to Fuel Cost Increase and Route Diversion Following Vikramshila Setu Collapse

At Maersk, we greatly appreciate your continued trust and support in our services.

We would like to inform you that transportation costs on Nepal corridors (Biratnagar, Birgunj, and Kathmandu) have been significantly impacted due to the following factors:

1. Increase in Fuel Cost: A recent increase in diesel prices has led to a direct escalation in transportation operating expenses.


2. Route Diversion Due to Vikramshila Setu Collapse: The collapse/closure of Vikramshila Setu has necessitated the use of alternate routes, resulting in:
   
   
   • Additional transit distance and driving hours
   • Higher fuel consumption
   • Increased toll and operational costs
   • Reduced fleet productivity and equipment turnaround

Considering the above factors, we will be implementing a transportation tariff revision for shipments moving to/from Biratnagar, Birgunj, and Kathmandu corridors, effective from 16^TH JUNE 2026 (PCD).

The revised tariff is necessary to partially offset the increased operating costs while ensuring uninterrupted service levels and transit reliability.
