Please be reminded that customers are expected to return containers to the same location as the full pickup, unless otherwise authorized to do so. In an effort to simplify and provide more clarity to our drop off fee structure, beginning July 7, 2025, unauthorized empty returns will be assessed a Drop-Off fee (DRP) as follows:
- For empty returns to Ocean Port locations: USD 300 per container
- For empty returns to all other depots - USD 1200 per container
The drop-off fee (DRP) will be assessed to the consignee for the shipment.
For United States empty returns information or request to drop off at alternate CY locations: https://www.maersk.com/local-information/north-america/united-states-of-america/import (Select “Empty Container return locations site” and download the excel file).
For Canada empty returns information or request to drop off at alternate CY locations: https://www.maersk.com/local-information/north-america/canada/import (Select “Procedures” then scroll down to “Download below document of empty return details” and download the excel file).
In the event a customer receives pre-approval from the Carrier to drop-off an empty container at an alternate container depot, a charge of USD 200 per container will be assessed as an Approved Alternate Drop-off fee (AAD).
We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing working with you in the future.
