We would like to inform you about upcoming changes to our invoicing processes for selected African region countries. After carefully assessing the current invoicing challenges, we have upgraded our systems to accurately capture the country from where the cargo journey begins. This enhancement will ensure that we issue compliant invoices. To facilitate this change, we kindly ask for your assistance in providing the correct details when submitting shipping instructions. Please note that this change will take effect from 8 October 2024.

Please note when the cargo's origin country differs from the country where it is loaded onto the vessel, and Maersk will not be involved in providing store door services from the actual cargo origin country, you are required to fill in a new field called "Start Journey of the Cargo”. This field will be available on our shipping instruction platform via maersk.com, INTTRA, and EDI. You must update the actual country from where the cargo journey is starting, even if the actual vessel is sailing from a port in another country. By updating this field correctly, we will ensure the production of a compliant export invoice.

Please find the guide here to specify the fields on our shipping instruction platforms where the "Start Journey of the Cargo" information is expected to be provided from your end.

Countries in scope: Senegal, Cameroon, Togo, Gabon, Tanzania, Benin, Congo, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Congo DRC, and Mauritius.

If you have questions about the above, please contact your regular Maersk contact person. In addition, we would like to encourage you to be proactive in preparing for this transition.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our financial system to better serve you
