Donations and social investments

As a global company, we are present in over 120 countries, and we recognise that we play an important role in the communities where we operate. We create jobs, improve infrastructure and facilitate the flow of domestic and international trade. We also have a long tradition of contributing to local communities, and we support many causes where our unique skills and assets as a global company can make a real difference.

Our priority causes

To ensure that the impact of our social investments is maximised, we prioritise causes and projects that support the global nature of our business and our desire to create opportunities for global commerce and local communities.

We have identified five priority causes for donations:

  1. Provide disaster relief & build preparedness

We give priority to projects that help alleviate the impact of natural disasters and other emergencies to increase access to essential goods and services for the communities affected.

  2. Empowering people to trade

We give priority to projects that help develop new social and economic opportunities for underprivileged communities by removing trade barriers and providing access to global value chains.

  3. Protect the natural environment and the world’s oceans

We give priority to projects that aid in protecting the health and well-being of the environment and natural resource base on which we, our customers and local communities depend.

  4. Support education & training programmes

We give priority to projects that promote education and knowledge building, which are vital instruments to promote livelihoods and the potential for long-term success in society. Priority will be given to areas aligned with our industry such as shipping, transport and logistics, safety, and educational programmes that promote the English language, maths, and career skills.

  5. Support health and safety in our surrounding communities

We give priority to projects that support safety and health in the living environment for the broader benefit of local communities.

Impact-driven collaborations

We prioritise collaborations that leverage Maersk’s assets and skills to make an impact in prioritised areas aligned with our business and sustainability goals. Through these collaborations, Maersk can support projects or initiatives via donations and social investments.

By working with Maersk, organisations can leverage our global reach, expertise, and resources to amplify their impact, enabling both Maersk and the organisations we engage with to achieve shared goals more effectively.

How to collaborate with Maersk

We engage in collaborations with a diverse range of reputable organisations, such as non-profits, governments, and our key customers. All our collaborations take into account our reputation and values. We do not support projects, initiatives or groups that we believe do not match our values or live up to our company policies or those of individuals or unregistered organisations.

If you are interested in collaborating with Maersk on a specific project or initiative, we invite you to submit your intent using the following form. We will carefully review the opportunities and reach out to those organisations that align with our strategic priorities.

Please note that we no longer accept or respond to unsolicited donation requests. If your request was sent before September 4th, 2024, and we would like to proceed with your application, you will be notified via email.
